History of LOTWEM

Light of the World Evangelization Ministries (“LOTWEM”) is an 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in May of 2004. It is an outgrowth of the Integral System of New Evangelization (“SINE”) process conceived of by Rev. Alphonso Navarro, MSpSC of Mexico. Prior to developing the LOTWEM Retreat Manual, Msgr. Dan Hermes, Jeanne Leezer and Ellie Nelson staffed the SINE USA National office in Rockford, Illinois. LOTWEM owes a great deal not only to Fr. Navarro, but also to Rev. Ernesto Elizando who, prior to his ordination, was the missionary consecrado responsible for bringing SINE to Rockford, IL.

What Is Light Of The World?

Evangelization

Light Of the World is a powerful evangelization process. Answering the call of John Paul II for a “new evangelization,” LOTW provides a dynamic vehicle for spreading the Good News and bringing souls (closer) to Christ. The LOTW Process reaches out to all - from the beginning "seeker" to those well along their faith journey. As LOTW evangelizes, it also empowers each evangelized person to evangelize others. Retreat

Retreatants are invited to personally encounter the Risen Christ, through a proclamation of the central Gospel message (the "Kerygma"), and through a renewal of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Personal healing and conversion are promoted through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Spiritual growth is encouraged through prayer and discussion. Read more

Formation

Light Of The World advances Christian discipleship through "Grow and Persevere" programs. Retreatants are invited to join Small Faith Communities that promote spiritual growth through prayer, edification and study. LOTW also encourages the implementation of adult formation programs, follow-up retreats and parish community-building events. Read more

Outreach

Jesus asks us to proclaim the good news to everyone! Light Of the World empowers a parish to take up the challenge of reaching out to each and every soul in its community - the lost, the hurt, the indifferent, etc. LOTW seeks to transform the "evangelized Christian" into an "evangelizing Christian" - to be come the very "light of the world!"
